Heat exhaustion can turn into heatstroke, and this can occur without warning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Heatstroke can cause serious damage to your body or even death<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span id=\"risk\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><strong>Who are the people most at risk?<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Older people<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">Babies and young children<\/span><br \/>\nPeople with a serious chronic condition, especially heart or breathing problems<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">People with mobility problems \u2013 for example, Parkinson&#8217;s disease or stroke related<\/span><br \/>\nPeople with serious mental health problems<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">People on certain medications, including those that affect sweating and temperature control<\/span><br \/>\nPeople who misuse alcohol or drugs<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #339966;\">People who are physically active\u00a0\u2013\u00a0for example, labourers or those doing sports<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span id=\"risk\"><strong><span style=\"color: #808080;\">What should you do?<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Keep out of the heat &#8211; plan your day so you can stay out of the heat as much as possible. Particularly between 11am &#8211; 3pm. Avoid strenuous outdoor activity. Wear loose fitting clothes and take on plenty of fluid, preferably water.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Stay cool &#8211; stay inside the coolest rooms, and close curtains in rooms that get a lot of sun. Keep windows closed while the room temperature is lower than the outside. Have a cool bath or splash face and neck with cold water frequently<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Drink plenty &#8211; even if you don&#8217;t feel thirsty, it is best to take on plenty of fluid.
