\nCrowborough Community First Responders\u00a0<\/strong>receives the
\nQueen\u2019s Award for Voluntary Service<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In 2019 we were honoured to be awarded the Queen\u2019s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK, an MBE equivalent for volunteer groups<\/span><\/p>\n

Crowborough Community First Responders was one of 281 charities, social enterprises and
\nvoluntary groups to receive the prestigious award in 2019. The number of nominations and awards has increased year on year since the awards were introduced in 2002, showing that the voluntary sector is thriving and full of innovative ideas to make life better for those around them<\/p>\n

The Queen\u2019s Award for Voluntary Service aims to recognise outstanding work by volunteer
\ngroups to benefit their local communities. It was created in 2002 to celebrate the Queen\u2019s
\nGolden Jubilee. Winners are announced each year on 2 June \u2013 the anniversary of the
\nQueen\u2019s Coronation. Award winners this year are wonderfully diverse. They include
\nvolunteers helping people overcome mental health problems through sport, volunteers using caravans as mobile cafe\/information centres in geographically remote locations and another group mentoring children who have a parent in prison<\/p>\n

Representatives of Crowborough Community First Responders attended a garden party at
\nBuckingham Palace, along with other recipients of the award, and the group formally received the award on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, from Peter Field, the
\nLord Lieutenant of East Sussex on\u00a024 August 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n
