Megan’s 2019 Sky Dive

We are so pleased to announce that Megan completed her Sky Dive raising a total of

£1,633.18

Megan Manktelow, the owner of The Boars Head Inn undertook a Sky Dive in aid of local charity Crowborough Community First Responders, on 02 October 2019.

The Sky Dive took place from Headcorn Aerodrome (nr Maidstone). The dive was completed as a tandem dive with Instructor Simon. After a morning of instruction, they boarded the parachute club’s aircraft G-GOHI and climbed up to around 12,000ft.

A fantastic total of £1,633.18 was raised thanks to the generosity of the pub’s customers, which means that the team are able to deploy another Public Access Defibrillator in the area, a vital lifesaving piece of equipment, that can increase the chance of survival from the ultimate medical emergency, a cardiac arrest.

There are around 30,000 out of hospital cardiac arrests in the UK every year, and without the presence of a defibrillator, the chance of a patient surviving is around 2%.

Speaking about the fundraising, Nicki Pointer (Team Leader – Crowborough CFR) said:
“On behalf of the team, I wish to thank Megan for having the courage to skydive and raise money for our charity. The money that Megan has raised will be going into our Public Access Defibrillator project. The project is aiming to ensure that as well as adequate units around the town, the schools are prioritised and all local schools should have this potentially lifesaving piece of equipment on site.”

Megan is now planning to wing walk for the team in the summer of 2020.

From the Friends of Crowborough Community First Responders, Reg & Dee Hook along with around 10 other regulars from the pub went along to support.
